Repair of wicker chairs and chairs with wicker seats
DKA Design repairs chairs and wicker chairs when the wicker seat is worn, the joints have become loose, or the woodwork has been damaged. We work with both classic designer chairs and newer models, and assess the chair based on its construction, existing wicker, and overall condition.
A repair can include gluing loose joints, replacing cross braces, minor repairs to the woodwork, as well as sanding and surface treatment. If the chair has a wicker seat or back, we also carry out repairs of chairs with wicker seats and new chair wicker using the appropriate weaving technique.
Please send a picture of the entire chair, as well as close-up pictures of the wickerwork and any damage. We can then assess whether the chair needs a minor repair, new wicker, or a more extensive renovation of the chair.

Renovation of chairs – when multiple parts require repair
A renovation of chairs may be relevant when the problem isn't confined to a single area. For example, a chair might have loose joints, wear and tear on the wood, and a cane seat or back that needs re-caning.
During a renovation, we at DKA Design assess the chair's construction, surface, and any cane work as a whole. This doesn't necessarily mean the entire chair needs treatment. Some parts can be preserved, while others require repair, new cane work, or surface treatment.
This is particularly relevant for older designer chairs, where previous repairs, wear, and the chair's current condition can influence the chosen solution.

Repair of lounge chairs with cane and woodwork
DKA Design carries out repairs of lounge chairs, where the work can include construction, woodwork, and caning. This can include loose joints, minor damage to the frame, or a woven seat or backrest that needs to be repaired or re-caned.
Among others, we work with Hans J. Wegner lounge chairs such as CH25, CH22, and CH27, as well as the J16 rocking chair. Depending on the model, the caning work can be, for example, flat weave or envelope weave, and therefore both the weaving technique and the chair's construction are assessed before the work is agreed upon.
If the lounge chair has both damaged cane and problems with the frame or joints, it is beneficial to have the entire chair assessed together. Send pictures of the entire lounge chair as well as close-ups of the cane and any damage, so DKA Design can assess the need for repair, re-caning, or restoration.
Repair of wicker furniture at DKA Design
DKA Design performs repairs of wicker furniture, where the work may include both the wickerwork, wooden frame, and joints. This could be a worn or damaged seat, loose wicker in the back, or damage to the parts of the construction to which the wickerwork is attached.
The type of wicker and construction are assessed before the work is agreed upon. DKA Design works with, among other things, envelope weave, flat weave, cane webbing, webbing, and French cane, and the relevant solution depends on the specific piece of furniture.
DKA Design is run by Allan and Mitzi in Kongens Lyngby, where craftsmanship, quality, and personal service go hand in hand. Allan is responsible for the actual repair and wickerwork and has many years of experience, while Mitzi ensures a smooth process from initial contact to the finished chair.
We only use materials of the highest quality – including self-imported cane/rattan – which provides a stronger and more durable result. That is why both private and business customers send their design classics to us, knowing that the work is carried out gently and with respect for the chair's original expression.
How we repair chairs
It should be easy and reassuring to have your designer chairs repaired. We assess the task based on photos or your description and guide you all the way from first contact to finished repair.
We also offer pick-up and delivery by arrangement.

2. The chair and the damage are assessed
We will review the task and get back to you shortly with a non-binding assessment and price.
3. The repair is carried out
The work is carried out at DKA Design's workshop in Kongens Lyngby. The specific repair will be adapted to the chair's construction and the agreed-upon work.
4. Ready for use
Your chair will be returned with a focus on durability, function, and respect for the original design.
What does it cost to repair a chair?
The price of chair repair depends on what needs to be done. A loose joint, a damaged woven seat, and a more extensive renovation are different tasks and are therefore priced based on the specific chair.

If the task also includes woodwork, joints, or other damage, it will be assessed separately. Send pictures of the entire chair and close-ups of the areas that need repair, so DKA Design can assess the scope of the task and provide you with a price for the work.
Examples of chair repair and renovation
The need for chair repair varies from model to model. Some chairs primarily need new weaving, while others also require work on joints, woodwork, or the surface.
At DKA Design, we have, among other things, worked with:
