A little about the man
Borge Mogensen
Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of the most influential architects of the post-war period. He found inspiration all over the world in his ambition to create everyday objects that would last for generations. He trained as a cabinetmaker, earning his apprenticeship in 1934.

ORIGINAL BØRGE MOGENSEN CHAIR WICKER
We love Børge Mogensen's chair wicker
Børge Mogensen's chair wicker is both robust and graceful, and he himself is one of Denmark's greatest designers, who is also famous worldwide for having created many completely classic and timeless pieces of furniture. He has created many different chairs with wicker over the years. His hallmark is probably that his furniture is more powerful in expression, which also means that they are very stable and robust.
Probably the most popular is J39, which is also called the Folkestolen, and its seat is woven with specially made natural paper yarn. The characteristic of this chair is that it is extremely stable in the frame itself. There are almost never any repairs on it. It can stand alone and it also does well with other furniture.

ORIGINAL BØRGE MOGENSEN CHAIR WICKER
Braided classics
Two of his other well-known chairs are called BM61 and BM62 and you often see them braided with sjener, like a kind of bamboo strips. These two chairs differ slightly from Børge Mogensen's other furniture, by virtue of their expression and stability, which depends a lot on their age. They can become a little "tender" in the construction and joints over time, so we recommend that you be aware of this. They can, for example, be fragile if they have been in an attic with moisture or the like. Fortunately, we can repair this if necessary.
We would also like to mention BM1 and BM2, which are made with the same braiding system as a Kaare Klint chair, and originally born with natural yarn. But here we have also started to make the braid with sjener, and this gives the chairs a completely different and at least as beautiful expression. We often see our customers wave this when they see how beautiful it is.

Functional design and braiding options
Another Børge Mogensen piece of furniture that we really like, and which is not a wicker piece of furniture, is his Shaker dining table. It is incredibly beautiful and very functional. The base is very well thought out and ingeniously made.
Here we can weave almost all types of Børge Mogensen furniture, with both flat weave and envelope weave, and this in various materials, including paper yarn, skeins and straps.
