ORIGINAL Jørgen Bækmark chair wicker
Timeless design with chair wicker and natural materials
Bækmark had a particular fascination with natural materials and craft traditions. Wicker, made from paper yarn or rattan, was a material he used in several of his designs. The weaving added a lightness and openness to the furniture, while providing good comfort and an aesthetically refined expression. Bækmark used wicker to create a balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern design, giving his furniture a timeless quality.
One of the most famous chairs that Bækmark designed with wicker is the “Fletstolen”. This chair is characterized by a slender, elegant wooden frame and a wicker seat and backrest, which both ensure comfort and give the chair a light and airy expression. The braiding in the chair wicker complemented the simple lines of the wooden frame and gave the chair an organic, natural look.
